Ballincollig B.C. host the Billy Coffey National Cup qualifiers

Ballincollig Basketball Club had the honour of hosting Pool 3A and Pool 3B of the Under 18 Billy Coffey Cup qualifiers last weekend the 2nd and 3rd of November in the Parochial Hall, Gurranbraher and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal in Blarney. 

Pool A consisted of Ballincollig, St. Declan’s, Tipperary Knights and Boyne Warriors and Pool B included UCD Marian, UU Tigers, Oblates and Templeogue. Round Robin games were held throughout the day in the Parochial Hall on Saturday and those in attendance were treated to entertaining and high energy basketball. Winning through to the semi-finals on Sunday were St. Declan’s who met UCD Marian and Oblates who met Ballincollig. 

The semi-finals and finals were held in the beautiful new sports facility at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Blarney. Again, two high energy games were on display early on Sunday morning with St. Declan’s and Ballincollig qualifying for the finals. St. Declan’s being victors on the day qualified for the National Cup with the Ballincollig Under 18 team joining them. Ballincollig Basketball Club were delighted for all the help received from the table officials, referees and all those who enabled these games to be run and in particular were delighted to have Alan Coffey (pictured above with the finalists) in attendance for the games over both days.
